SOC 215 Social Problems3 Credits
This course examines the complex social problems that shape our world, exploring how issues such as racism, sexism, poverty, substance use, violence, inequality, and ageism emerge, persist, and impact individuals and communities. Students will analyze the social construction of these issues, assess local and global influences, and evaluate how policy addresses these challenges. Designed for students across disciplines, the course emphasizes critical thinking, research, and advocacy skills to prepare students to engage as citizens and effective agents of change. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their role in promoting social awareness and contributing to positive social change.
Prerequisite(s): Take 3 credits from PSYCH 101 POLSC 101 SOC 101
