SW 305 Social Work Practice With Organizations & Communities

3 credits

Problems exist in communities that impact whole groups of people, requiring efforts within and beyond the community for conflict resolution.  In this course, students will explore the frameworks for thinking about and initiating change; the skills necessary to work within and alongside communities and organizations; and larger issues such as empowerment, resiliency, ethical decision-making, and the diverse nature of the social environment. Students will continue to develop a generalist perspective and will come to understand and use skills across levels of intervention.  Skills needed for effective community engagement; improved communication; advocacy; grant writing and fundraising; and the use of technology in the field will be emphasized.
