BUS 232 The Art of Entrepreneurship

3 Credits

In the introductory course, BUS 132 Introduction to Entrepreneurship, all facets of the entrepreneurial mindset were reviewed. In this course we take a deep dive into creativity, innovation, & invention - understanding how these concepts are  intertwined but different. We explore the tools that support these processes including the design thinking process & the creative problem-solving process.  Gelb (2004) defines Art/Science, one of the seven da Vincian principles as,  ”The development of the balance between science and art, logic and imagination. ‘Whole-brain’ thinking” (p.9).

In business today there is increased competition in areas such as new product development. To stay on top of their competition, organizations must continuously improve on product or service quality - thus enhancing the customer experience. This course focuses on the creative side of entrepreneurship through experiential learning, ideation exercises, and the power of inquiry to spark the creative thought process and is designed to guide students in the discovery of the creativity within themselves.
