SW 280 Interpersonal Relationships3 Credits
A core value of the social work profession is the importance of human relationships. This course will ask students to analyze various relationship types using theory and research. Multiple forms of intimacy will be explored, including lovers, mates, family, and friends. Emphasis will be on communication and support, sexual attraction and attitudes, rejection and betrayal, aggression and violence, loss and conflict, and intervention methodologies. Students will examine relational experiences across the lifespan, using an inclusive perspective to promote greater understanding of diversity.
Prerequisite(s): SW 100 SW 210 SW 250 or permission of instructor.
