SW 330 Forensic Social Work
This course will introduce students to the myriad roles social workers play in forensic settings. Students will learn about the history of the relationship between social work and the law, including the role of social workers as advocates for policy reform. Issues related to diversity and inequity will be explored as they relate to the disproportionate representation of minority groups in interactions with legal systems, including law enforcement and among incarcerated populations. Students will learn how to implement skills across all levels of practice, including motivational interviewing, victim advocacy, and multidisciplinary collaboration in partnering with diverse client populations.
Prerequisite(s): SW 100 SW 210 SW 230 SW 250 or permission of instructor
