SPEC 320 Assessment & The IEP

3 Credits

This course is designed for students to gain understanding of assessment and identification of students with special needs. Students will gain an understanding of IDEIA and other special education laws used in schools today. The course will break down all parts of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) and the identification process, including present levels of performance, smart goals & objectives, instructional & assessment strategies, FAPE, and LRE. Students will explore different assessment types used by special educators and related service providers.

Prerequisite(s): EDU 230  

NOTE: There is a required field component (EDU 125 ) for this course.  All students are required to have valid clearances to participate in field experience.
