Overview

The Certificate in Business Leadership (CBL) is an in-person program designed for individuals seeking to enhance their leadership skills, strategic decision-making, and business acumen. Through interactive coursework, hands-on learning experiences, and face-to-face engagement with faculty and peers, students will develop the expertise necessary to lead teams, drive organizational success, and navigate complex business challenges.

This program fosters a collaborative learning environment where students benefit from dynamic discussions, real-world case studies, and experiential learning. With a focus on practical application, students will participate in leadership simulations and group projects to gain firsthand insights into effective business leadership.

Graduates will be equipped to contribute to thriving, efficient organizations, while making a meaningful impact on the well-being and success of others.

Program Outcomes

Successful graduates of Neumann University’s Certificate in Business Leadership will be able to:

  • Demonstrate Strategic Leadership - Apply leadership theories and strategies to effectively guide teams, drive organizational success, and manage change.
  • Foster Ethical Leadership - Promote ethical decision-making and integrity in leadership practices to create positive organizational cultures
  • Enhance Decision-Making and Problem-Solving - Utilize critical thinking, data analysis, and innovation to address complex business challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Develop Effective Communication and Management Skills - Strengthen communication, collaboration, and operational management to engage stakeholders and optimize team performance.

Admission Requirements

Applicants with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited, degree-granting institution are eligible for entrance to the Certificate in Business Leadership program, subject to the approval of the Program Director.

Acceptance is on a competitive basis after submission of all credentials and, if appropriate, an interview. All applicants must submit the following:

  • A completed Graduate Student Application, online through www.neumann.edu/apply.
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended.
  • Letter of intent which outlines why the applicant wishes to pursue the degree.
  • One official, professional letters of reference.
  • Current professional resume.

Once all admission materials have been received and processed through the Office of Admissions, the graduate Program Director will arrange for an interview, if appropriate, following a review of all candidate credentials.

Progression/Retention/Completion Requirements

To progress in the Certificate in Business Leadership program, all students must maintain an overall “B” average (cumulative 3.00 GPA) in all required courses and demonstrate satisfactory participation in the program. Completion of all requirements for the program must not exceed two years. Exemption to this time limitation must be applied for in a written request to the Director of the program.

A limit of two Incompletes may be given, with exceptions for Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; or due to medical necessities verified by a doctor.

Academic Advisor: The Program Director also serves as the academic advisor for all students in the CBL program. Questions regarding specific course work should be directed to the course instructor. Program Design and Required Courses

The Certificate in Business Leadership is designed as a two-semester program which enables students to complete the program in 9 months. All courses integrate work and learning experiences and are taught by faculty who are practitioners/scholars with significant leadership and management experience.

The program consists of 18 required credits which are delivered as six (6) 3-credit courses.
