Associate of Arts, Early Childhood Education (A.A., ECE)

This collaborative Associate of Arts Accelerated Degree Program, jointly sponsored by the Divisions of Education and Human Services and the Division of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies and offered through the Division of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies, utilizes selected Core Course requirements of the Liberal Studies Accelerated Associate Degree Program in conjunction with specified accelerated 6-credit courses in Early Childhood Education to satisfy both Core and elective requirements to complete an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. This program also utilizes the current adult Experiential Learning Project model of the Liberal Studies Accelerated Degree Program in which students apply what is learned in a classroom environment to a real-world project of their choice. This practical application of knowledge provides evidence of understanding related to course and program outcomes. Each course throughout this program integrates this Experiential Learning Project as part of a student’s overall learning experiences.

Upon completion of the Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education, the student may select a baccalaureate degree completion option in either the Division of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies or a baccalaureate degree in Early Elementary (PK-4) and Special Education (PK-8), offered through the Division of Education and Human Services. Academic advising would be handled according to the degree/Division of student’s choice.

Admission Criteria

Any student 21 years or older who has either completed high school, or earned a GED and otherwise meets the current admissions requirements for the Liberal Studies Degree Program, may apply to the Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education (A.A., ECE). Required Courses: 60 Credits

The following ten required course requirements that are listed below are currently offered and approved by both the Division of Education and Human Services and the Division of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies. Courses that are identified with a (+) are part of the Liberal Studies Accelerated Degree Program Core Curriculum. The Early Childhood Education segment of the curriculum (LSECE) has been approved by Neumann University’s Division of Education and Human Services to meet the Associate of Art’s program requirements, as well as all learning outcomes specified by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
