ECON 101 Introduction to Personal Finance3 Credits
This course provides the fundamental knowledge needed for personal finance and retirement planning. Many important topics will be introduced to help students be more financially educated and responsible with money, so they can spend wisely, establish financial goals, and save and invest for their future. This information is presented within the context of being socially and morally responsible, and how this impacts one’s purchasing, charitable giving, and investing decisions. Students will learn basic math skills to help them evaluate choices and make wise decisions that are quantifiable based on personal objectives. Concepts and techniques include budgeting, balancing a checkbook, protecting assets, establishing good credit, and learning about investments to achieve short and long-term financial goals, including retirement.
