Arts Production and Performance

The Arts Production and Performance major is a program of study which combines a liberal arts education with a focus on the development of the skills that are needed for artistic production in a chosen area of artistic emphasis.  Upon choosing and completing an area of emphasis, a student will also satisfy the completion of an arts Minor. The program provides students with the opportunity to deeply study a specific artistic discipline while developing a knowledge of aesthetic principles and how they apply to all artistic endeavors. Graduates of the program are equipped to successfully produce and promote artistic works; from others and themselves. Through training in performance, graduates also complete the program with the enhanced self-confidence, self-discipline, creativity, and facility with project management which are prized in any profession

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, the graduate will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts Production and Performance and will:

  • Articulate the fundamental aesthetic principles underlying the visual and performing arts.
  • Synthesize creative works from various media to clearly establish a primary mood and theme.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of management and legal concepts and concerns prevalent in arts organizations.
  • Create or perform artistic works in a chosen discipline and medium which reflect aesthetic principles.
  • Use a variety of technologies for the creation of images and sound.
  • Explain the importance of the arts in living a joyful human life and how the arts can be used in the service of others.
