ASL 201 Intermediate American Sign Language I3 Credits
ASL 201 is a continuation of ASL 102, building on the vocabulary and grammatical concepts acquired in level one. Focus shifts from learning vocabulary and concepts to applying them in conversational activities. Awareness, appreciation, and a deep understanding of the Deaf culture are also heavily emphasized in 201. These goals can be met if you first recognize the key to learning any language is to be open minded, patient, and committed to practice. Emphasis is on both expressive and receptive signing. The use of facial expressions and body language is paramount to this language; ASL is not a direct translation of English, rather a beautiful and unique form of expression.
