Program Outcomes

In addition to meeting Business School program outcomes, upon successful completion of this program, the graduate with a major in Finance will:

              Learning Objective #1:

Describe and explain the ethical and professional responsibilities of finance professionals in ensuring the integrity of financial information and ethical reasoning in decision making by demonstrating the values of Catholic Social Teaching and Franciscan values (Neumann’s RISES).

              Learning Objective #2:

Demonstrate proficiency in and integrate the theory, policies and procedures of financing, financial analysis, investing, and planning, by analyzing and solving financing, financial analysis, investing, and planning assignments while applying critical thinking skills.

              Learning Objective #3:

Communicate effectively in written and oral formats by applying oral and written communication skills including appropriate citation of resources in academic research.

              Learning Objective #4:

Apply relevant professional and teamwork skills demonstrating the ability to work in a diverse environment through team projects, service-learning experience, and internships. 

Progression Criteria/Degree Requirements

Progression in the Finance major leading to a Bachelor of Science degree requires students to:

  • Maintain a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA.
  • Achieve a grade of “C” or higher for all general business, major, and NU core requirements specific to the Finance major.
  • Complete a minimum of 122 credits.

School Repeat Policy

  • General business, major, and NU core requirements specific to Finance may only be repeated once. Students must have written permission from the Dean of Business and Information Management to take a course for the third time.
  • In total, only three different general business, major, or NU core requirements specific to Finance may be repeated.
  • Failure to earn a grade of “C” or better for general business, major, or NU core requirements specific to Finance may result in dismissal from the School.
