NUR 430CL Nursing Care of Children and Families Clinical Practicum2 Credits
This senior level clinical practicum course focuses on the application of nursing practice to the care of pediatric patients with acute and chronic illnesses, including their families, from diverse backgrounds. Students integrate evidence-based knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment in providing nursing care. Principles of pediatric growth and development are applied to the management of acute and chronic illnesses encountered by children from infancy through adolescence. Leadership strategies in communication, coordination of care, and collaboration are implemented. Professional responsibility and accountability in providing nursing care to children and families are emphasized. This course includes 84 hours of clinical course activities such as direct patient care, nursing skills, and simulations.
